Wellness Uprising
Revolutionary Self-Care

WU is a key concept in Taoism denoting the absence of qualities perceivable by the senses, but not non-existent.  As stated in the Tao-te ching (11):

"We join spokes together in a wheel, but it is the center hole that makes the wagon move.

We shape clay into a pot,
but it is the emptiness inside that holds whatever we want.

We hammer wood for a house, but it is the inner space, that makes it livable.

We work with being, but non-being is what we use.
"

WU! is a sigh of relief, an exclamation of excitement, and it's short for Wellness Uprising Revolutionary Self-Care.  As in Taoism, Wellness Uprising's WU is distinguished by what is absent in our formulas.  WU's lavender and therapeutic skin care collections contain no cancer causing agents, parabens, SLS, mineral oils, alcohols, artificial colors or fragrances.

WU Revolutionary Self-Care is committed to developing products and services that support the positive development of the whole self -- mind, body and spirit. WU's Reiki, chakra balancing, Intuitive Empowerment Workshops, chakra teas and self-care products are designed to empower people to take radically good care of themselves, as stated by Iyanla Vanzant, by "giving to, nurturing and supporting yourself before you attempt to nurture, support or care for others."

Available exclusively at Lucy Florence Cultural Center in Los Angeles, CA, WU invites you to stop in and invest in the well being of your whole self.

WU! has temporarily reduced pricing to support President Barack Obama's efforts to restore America's economy.  All of our products and packaging are made in America. Get WU'd! It'll make your body say "WUuuuu!"

What is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing modality.  The word "Reiki" is made up of two Japanese words, "Rei," meaning God's wisdom or higher power, and "ki" meaning life force or energy (also referred to as "chi" or "qi").  One generally accepted definition or translation of Reiki is "universal life energy."

Reiki energy is inherent in all living things. When this energy is out of balance we experience physical illness, negative thoughts and feelings and self-destructive or toxic behaviors. Imbalances are sometimes caused by external forces like emotional trauma, injury, or side-effects from modern medical treatments. Often, we throw our balance of energy off by failing to invest time in the maintenance of our mind/body/spirit wellness. The foods we eat, the way we feel about ourselves and our lives, and the stimuli we receive from mass media have a positive or negative effect on some part of our whole being. Reiki is an excellent way to restore balance needed to function as our highest and greatest selves.

Wellness Uprising Reiki sessions are conducted in a quiet, serene setting.  Aromatherapy and music may be added to encourage deeper relaxation and healing. Recipients lay (fully clothed) on a Reiki table.  He/she may set a specific intention for the session, or they may simply allow the energy to flow where it is most needed for their greatest good.

Because it originates from the universe, Reiki energy is not bound by time or space.  It can be sent by a laying on of hands, or sent to a distant location or future time and place.

Reiki recipients may feel tingling, warmth, coldness, gurgling in the abdomen, or nothing at all.  It is reported that recipients feel the practitioner's hands on a certain part of the body when, in fact, they are not being touched at all!  100% of Wellness Uprising Reiki clients sleep peacefully during their sessions. This is a sign of great trust and deep relaxation.

Reiki is a loving and peaceful energy.  It is not associated with any religion and is complementary to any medical treatment plan, therapies or procedures.  It continues to work for 21 days following a treatment.  During this time, recipients may experience symptoms associated with detoxification as toxic emotions and substances are flushed from the body and spirit.
