German philosopher Friederich Nietzsche said, “There is one thing one has to have: either a soul that is cheerful by nature, or a soul made cheerful by work, love, art, and knowledge.” This feeding of the soul is what takes place everyday inside Lucy Florence Cultural Center. It is a safe and rich environment for men, women, children, businesses and professional organizations to gather in celebration of visual and creative arts. Each year Lucy Florence brings world class artistic expression to thousands of hungry souls, seeking the cheer of which Nietzsche speaks. Lucy Florence owners, Richard and Ron Harris, have worked to keep African American culture and art alive in the greater Los Angeles area for nearly ten years.
